I enjoy the moments when I ask what they think a character is feeling and my kids say more than one word- we have a Halloween 5 minute story book that includes a story about Riley from Inside Out and I don’t love the book overall but I like how much discussion is prompted by my kids talking about all Riley’s different emotions as she is celebrating her first Halloween in a new place.
For recent books I have loved, my MIL brought home The Together Tree by Aisha Saeed and it was a lovely book about one boy bringing kids together after he had started at a new school. Ghost Book by Remy Lai was my 6 yo’s favorite the last couple weeks, I was excited to have my first time telling him it was important to get sleep even though I knew he wanted to finish his book- I read most of it with him and I enjoy seeing him reading on his own too.
I feel like I need to print out this intro and pin it up on my wall. I hope all the same for you, friend.
Love this idea! Probably need to print the entire post, given the prompts at the end. Great to have in our reading nooks.
Thank you, Ashely. Always sending lots of love your way 🩷

I don’t know those titles! I’ll have to check them out.
