Not book related, but that’s for helping me understand how gift subscriptions work 🤪

Take any of it (even all of it) and use it for your own purposes!

I LOVED the Secret of NIMH movie when I was a kid in the '80s and then found an audio book version to listen to with my children when they were a few years younger than they are now and they (we) loved it. The movie is nostalgic so I can't properly critique it but I agree and throughly enjoy the book. Thanks again for another great offering. We listened to it right around the time we finished all The Green Ember books by S.D. Smith. Hmmm and Watership Down. Guess once you start with rats and mice you move on to rabbits and the like. 🐭

I never watched the movie as a kid and then when I recently tried with my own, it was too scary (my eldest is especially sensitive and we don't push it, so it will have to wait for the future). I guess I was genuinely surprised at how much we all devoured this sci fi book? That's entirely due to my own literary biases, I know.

Watership Down. I read it for the first time a few years ago, after failing to get into it many times over the years, and all I can say is that it stunned me. Suspenseful narrative, fascinating messages about heroism and religion and gender roles and power... all played out via rabbits. A THOUSAND TIMES YES! 😂

A THOUSAND TIMES YES, LOL, then consider giving the green ember books a try (https://sdsmith.com/the-green-ember-series/) - we listened to them as audio books first - then subsequently had the physical books and spinoffs around to read. They're engaging but not as devastating as watership down.

I have, of course, heard an overwhelming amount of good things about The Green Ember series. We're headed on a long car ride next week and I've been looking for something the whole family can enjoy... maybe this is when we dive in!
