The text is very simple -- it's essentially a poem, with only a few words per page. A good read-along is All the Water in the World by by George Ella Lyon, and for a much deeper dive, A Drop of Water: A Book of Science and Wonder by Walter Wick.
I am with you — I never make resolutions in January, but the beginning of the school year is always so exciting to me, even as a grown-up with no kids and no school! I got a new planner and am excited about setting new goals!
Planners are my downfall -- absolute Kryptonite. I just bought a new one a couple weeks ago and what am I doing on my lunch hour today? Going to Target to look at others 🤦🏻♀️
Also, um, Rebecca? I didn't realize you subscribed to my newsletter... I LOVE your books! (Federico and the Wolf is my favorite.) Thanks for much for being here and for adding your own suggestions.
As a resident of a drought-ridden states, we talk and think about water a lot and I can't read to read these titles with my kiddos. Our favorite book about rain is Chirri & Chirra: The Rainy Day (we love this entire series and the illustrations are whimsical).
We've been reading Water is Water every night. The children appear to live in the most beautiful place and the we like looking for first the turtle and then the snake. Thanks for the rec!
Something from Nothing is one of our favorites! Even as an adult I could get lost for a while just pouring over the details of the illustrations. An absolutely lovely book!
Ohh Water is Water looks great!
It's so good. It's such a lovely way to recognize and generate gratitude for this basic but absolutely vital thing we live with every day.
My kids are so into non fiction but I'm excited to add some narrative flair :)

Thanks for dropping all these recommendations!!
Adding to the non-fiction water recommendations for a younger audience: Drip by Maggie Li has a great story and illustrations and is so popular with our toddler we can’t get it out of his hands. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/706311/drip-by-maggie-li-illustrated-by-maggie-li/
I don't know Drip, Mia -- it looks great. Thanks for adding your recommendation!

WATER IS WATER is one of my favorites. Another favorite water book is WATERSONG by Tim McCanna.
Ooooh, I know (and enjoy Tim McCanna, especially In a Garden) but Watersong is new to me -- thank you!

Aw, thank you so much! Federico is a special book.
We love Brambly Hedge so can't wait to dive into Foxwood Tales! Thank you!
Yay! I’m so glad. I’d love to hear what you think of it, if you get the chance.

The Chirri & Chirra series is so good -- we haven't read The Rainy Day so I'll have to put that one on hold.
