Okay, well now I want to make stretchy dough and clay just for me! It legit sounds so fun to bring some childhood joy into my life, I might just do that . . .
I love Jan Brett SO MUCH! I have to say that I’m devastated that the weekend she’ll be in Wisconsin / Minnesota is the same weekend that my youngest has a two-day basketball tournament. NOOOOOOOOOO! WHY!!!???? Even if I go see Jan by myself, I can’t take the kid with! Anyway, thanks for putting this on my radar!
"If you, too, are feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and saddened by things outside of your control, things entirely in your control that you managed to bungle up anyway, unspeakable and crushing world sorrow, low energy, regular life ennui, unfinished business that seems so simple and yet the other party involved is still avoiding you and any sort of resolution or closure"
HAHA! I love it.
I had a few MaryAnn Kohl books when my kids were wee ones but now I'm a bit sad we didn't dip into them as much as I thought we might. I was always big on art with my kids too (they'll just make ANOTHER mess SOMEWHERE...we might as well enjoy art together in the meantime). I'd never seen any of the above ones, though.
Great recommendations, as usual!
PS- We're reading through portions of "Blood and Germs" (civil war) by Gail Jarrow right now - excellent history that is right along with what we're studying. Thanks again!!
I adore her illustrations and her rendition of Night Before Christmas is our go-to on Christmas Eve. Sadly, she'll only be in Boulder or else I'd be clamoring for tickets.
We are allegedly getting our first snow of the season tomorrow, soccer games are canceled, and so some Kohl-approved activities seem in order.
I’m so excited to see Old Mother Hubbard mentioned here! I have an ancient copy that used to live at my Grandmother’s house and it is so well loved by my now 2.5 year old that it inspired his first word(s??)--bow wow!

Just requested first art from the library and I am so excited to check it out!
Keep on keeping on is my refrain these days! So thanks for your uplifting words
