Isn't Mem Fox wonderful! We really love Where is the Green Sheep? by her, and Possum Magic is lovely too.

Ooh, Grandfather Twilight! Second only to When the Sun Rose to me. Wonderful, mystical books and I love the magical illustrations so much.

Same, same. If I had to order my Barbara Helen Berger books from favorite to least, When the Sun Rose would be above Grandfather Twilight for me too, but honestly, I think almost all of her titles are unspeakably wonderful. (The only one that just doesn't do it for me, and I have tried, is Angels on a Pin.)

Anytime I see sturgeon mentioned all I can think about is sturgeon spearing on Winnebago and the shifting ice on Winnebago 🫣. Your fear is valid from this fellow Hodag who used to drive on the ice road across Boom Lake. I love these posts though. Been requesting many titles for my kids from our library.

Sturgeon are truly prehistoric beasts. It’s wild that they’re still around. Also…. We have mudpuppies. I caught one when I was 5 and my grandpa wound up cutting the line because he couldn’t get it off.

I was *just* reading about mudpuppies last night! Talk about "it's wild that they're still around." This book said that if mudpuppies are kept out of the water, within a year their fins grow stronger and their gait evens out as they get used to walking. WHAAAAAAT 🤯

“I remember thinking my children couldn’t possibly like this strange-ass story of an old man who lives among the trees,…”

Keeping it real, Sarah, and now I have to read this book!😂
