I can so strongly relate to this account of watching a prior way of life burn down and then rebuilding it into some sort of wondrous Rube Goldberg contraption that better represents what’s going down in my deepest soul. I’m so glad you do what you do in the way that you do it. ❤️🩹
Clara's Kooky Compendium sounds perfect for my 4th grader-- I'm going to order this one instead of getting it from the library-- seems like a keeper! Thanks Sarah
Sarah--I've been a long time reader of your newsletter. This week has been a really hard week with my toddler--so many tantrums. Finally, today, I was like we need something and the first thing I thought of was I'm going to see if there are any resources on Can We Read, and of course there were so many! I ordered a million books from the library and a few from thrift books that you recommended, and I just wanted to say thank you for creating this amazing and thoughtful resource.
I relate to this, but also YOU have hard a really rough time, and I am always massively impressed with how you stay incredibly consistent and wonderfully reliable in every sense with this newsletter. It's a fantastic resource about children's books that has, no doubt, helped so many people. And it's a testament to who you are, Sarah! I hope things turn around for you soon. You deserve it.
Thanks for giving us all the opportunity to come along on this crazy journey of life with you. Here's to a 2024 with less upheaval and, dare I speculative, a published book?
I'm ordering Clara's Compendium for my 9-year-old for Christmas! My library doesn't have One of Each, but the search for Hoberman revealed she is the author of Seven Silly Eaters, one of my all-time favorites.
This looks like a must-read - I love the kooky. Thanks, Sarah!

Are we all having the same year? Take care of yourself! In the meantime, thanks for another fabulous list of recommendations.
I’m very inspired by what you’re describing here! Hang in there, and thanks for sharing with us.
I read Meena’s Saturday yesterday when it came in a new books shipment - love the complexity she was able to capture!
Yes! It's so well done.
The December 2024 Sarah is pretty darn awesome. And what a great list!
Aw, Sarah 🥹 Thank you.
All the Sarah's of each day and each month and each year are pretty dang wonderful.
Thanks for seeing, accepting, and supporting them all ❤️❤️❤️

Would love to know how it goes over!
All I know is that all the Sarah’s are people I’m glad I know. ❤️
Continually grateful for you, my friend ❤️❤️

This is so sweet, Claudia -- thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad you found some books -- I hope they help! (In my experience, they do.)
