Sarah, YOU are doing a great job :) Shared with a few people and will try to think of more.
The Night Gardener is one of my all-time favorite books. The illustrations, the story. It's such a poignant book. We also love The Barnabus Project by the Fan Brothers. Have you read it?
The rest of these recommendations are new to me and I can't wait to check them out. I'm excited for summer to arrive soon, which means more laid-back mornings and thus more family reading!
The Barnabus Project is awesome. It Fell from the Sky is good, but not my favorite, and Ocean Meets Sky no one in my house really took to -- but that might just be us.
Some of them are... not great and I definitely don't recommend all of them. But taken one by one, I think there are a few good ones (and I really do love this Poe edition, especially for introducing his work to kids).
I am catching up on all your wonderful newsletters and I love this Native American encyclopedia--ordering ASAP. Sarah, YOU'RE doing a great job. You're such an inspiration to me and so many others--truly!
Barbara, I can't tell you how much I needed to hear these kind words this morning -- thank you so very much 💕
Shared with 3 friends :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏
Big Leo Lionni fan here! :)
Same. I think there's a lot of subtly beautiful messaging in his work (and also, of course, his not-so-subtly amazing art).

Darcy, thank you for your support, now and always -- it means so much to me, truly.
(I don't know any of the Fan Brothers' other books so will have to check out The Barnabus Project -- thank you!)

Yes yes yes to the Fan Brothers!! The Antlered Ship and Ocean Meets Sky are excellent too.
Love all of your recommendations, glad I found this substack and will share it
Thank you so much!
I had not see classics illustrated before! I will need to check it out. Thank you for sharing!

This is a great list! I'm super happy to see The Night Gardener on it!
Thanks, Hope!
