Thanks, Sara! I wrote it a long time ago (or at least it feels that way), so it was funny for me to update it -- life changes, even in the realm of reading.
I've never heard of Wimmelbooks but looking them up just now, they remind me a lot of Rotraut Susanne Berner's seasonal Bustletown series -- do you know them? They might appeal.
I love a book house! I couldn't help but think of my recent move seeing all your books — that's the one downside of being book people. SO MANY BOOKS! :)
So. Many. Books. And yet, I don't think I could live any other way (even though I know the pain of moving them!) Obviously I put a lot more emphasis on all my books than I do on, say, a gorgeous home with beautiful things and dazzling aesthetics -- my books serve that purpose for me instead 😂
Thank you for showing us your underwear!🤣 Seriously--this is real life, and I love this way more than those photos by influencers on IG lounging on the pristine white shag rug in front of a stone fireplace with a few color-coordinated books on the shelf next to it. You re winning in my book!
One comment/edit to consider: your house *is* perfect. As it is, as the space and growth it provides. I also loved seeing how the plant in the red planter in your kitchen reading area has grown since the first and second photo :)
As someone lucky enough to have seen your book house, I love how it gives off a sense of, "look at all of the ways a person can be. There are infinite possibilities, and here are some ways to consider."
As a non book-keeper, I sometimes wonder if I will ever go back (says the person who only owns two physical copies of her Top 5 favorite books). I know you know.
Yes! May I invite myself over to peruse all the shelves? I love this and appreciate that it is real.
My favorite line: "👆🏻 The rule of our bedroom is that children’s things cannot linger; by the time I get into bed I don’t want to see any evidence that the short folks have been here (ask me how that’s going 2.5 years later 😑): the one exception to this is books."
What a great post! Thanks for the peek in. At our house looking books are usually Wimmelbooks. My kids love them.

Yes, Rotraut Susanne Berner‘s books are Wimmelbücher. Do you know Hiro Kamigaki‘s Pierre the Maze Detective? A Wimmelbuch with a twist.
I do not! Looking into it now. Thank you!
There is also a coloring book version of it, which delights my heart.

I'm in complete agreement. Same. :)
Just looking at the photos makes me feel like I've been to the library or a good book store. Gah! I'm so happy you've documented (and updated).
Commendable bravery to show us your shelves!! 😂 Love the nooks.
Ha! I couldn't make it look better if I tried 🤷🏻♀️

This made me laugh, Holly 😂 Thank you!
Sarah. You are the queen of books.

Nothing better than snapshots into your one and precious life! Thank you for all of this 📚💖

Please come over. Please.
