Bodies Are Cool is one of our family's most beloved books, and one I gift to all new parents! It's the best. Would love to find something in a similar vein/tone for food/food talk (i.e. food isn't good or bad, different foods do different things for our bodies), if you have a rec!

There's a book that came out last year (2024) called All Food is Good Food by Molli Jackson Ehlert that could be just what you're looking for, *but I have not read it yet myself so I can't vouch for it in any way.*

Thank you for this list!! I was only familiar with Big which I got from the library recently to enjoy another time. Really excited to pick up Bodies Are Cool next!

Ps. I noticed the illustrator for I Love My Body Because is incorrect. It probably only stood out to me cause it’s the same name as mine. 😊

Oh, thank you! Don't know how that happened 🤦🏻‍♀️

Have you read her second novel, And Then, Boom!..?

Not yet!! I really want to.

Sarah, I'm working on a piece inspired by Virginia's work, too. It's so important! Also, going to have to check out some of these for my littlest reader who is very much in the "where's your nose" phase.

Yay! Ammi-Joan Paquette has two others in her Body Power series -- My Hands Can and My Mouth Says, both of which are great. Also highly recommend Whose Knees Are These? and Whose Toes Are Those? by Jabari Asim -- they are so fun to read.

Adding these to our library list— thank you!!!

Well, now I can't help but mention my all-time favorite "where's your nose" phase book -- Hands Can by Cheryl Willis Hudson. The photos of real children doing real things was always a mega-hit with my babies and toddlers.
