Ten Titles on Tuesday: 3/9/21
Hi there. Happy Tuesday!
This week’s Ten Titles, never in any particular order:
The Khan’s Daughter by Laurence Yep
Strong as Stone by Christopher Brown
The B on Your Thumb: 60 Poems to Boost Reading and Spelling by Colette Hiller
Fairy Tales for Fearless Girls by Anita Ganeri (Atalanta? YES PLEASE.)
Dreams for Our Daughters and Songs for Our Sons by Ruth Doyle
Anna the Bookbinder by Andrea Cheng
The Iron Giant by Ted Hughes
Donkey Donkey by Roger Duvoisin
The Beaver Pond by Alvin Tresselt
Sun Stories : Tales from Around the World to Illuminate the Days and Nights of Our Lives by Carolyn McVickar Edwards
Data scientist Laura Ellis has some fascinating information on her blog (the only thing I have been more faithful to than my 13 years’ worth of personal spreadsheets is my marriage) so when I realized she has a list of Data Science Books for Kids, I was on it. Lots of good titles on that list, though Bedtime Math by Laura Overdeck stands out — it sounds a bit weird but it’s superb (and doesn’t have to be read/used exclusively at bedtime). Also highly recommend Ellis’ post, At Home Data Activities for Young Kids.
Unrelated, but since I know a handful of you are just entering or still in the thick of the board book years (that times goes fast! which is both a reminder to soak it up and a promise, depending on what kind of day you’re having 😊 ): check out this Instagram post from @childrenslitworld for a few board books representing disabilities.
Read good books and take good care 😘
