🎶 Here you come again 🎶 just when I'm about to get myself together*🎶
This week’s Ten Titles, never in any particular order:
Deep in the Sahara by Kelly Cunnane
Luci Soars by Lulu Delacre
Pig Pig Gets a Job by David McPhail
Welcoming Babies by Margy Burns Knight
Astrid the Unstoppable by Maria Parr
Rooftop Astronomer: A Story About Maria Mitchell by Stephanie Sammartino McPherson
Wonder Walkers by Micha Archer
Tiny Creatures: The World of Microbes by Nicola Davies
The Magic Brush: A Story of Love, Family, and Chinese Characters by Kat Yeh
The Stuff Between the Stars: How Vera Rubin Discovered Most of the Universe by Sandra Nickel
I like this list of 20 Korean Picture Books for Kids via Feminist Books for Kids. I will forever recommend Bee-Bim Bop by Linda Sue Park (I reviewed it in issue No. 22), I’ve got Dear Juno by Soying Pak on deck for an upcoming issue, and we recently borrowed (and liked) Danbi Leads the School Parade by Anna Kim from the library. Lots of these titles are new to me, though, so my holds list grows (as ever).
As promised, here is a list I pulled together of books and other resources about the westward expansion. It is imperfect. For right now I am okay with that. It will live on the Can we read? website and I’ll update it as I read these titles with my own children and/or learn more.
Read good books and take good care 😘
*in case you need some Dolly Parton today, and I mean, who doesn’t?
